NEIGHBORHOOD GUIDE: CAPITOL HILL (CAP HILL) - DENVER, CO

One thing you'll often hear about Denver is the unique charm and personality across its many neighborhoods. That's why this month, as part of our Denver Edition, we've taken time to call out the sights, sounds, libations and culinary creations unique to the River North (RiNo) Arts District, The Highlands, and now, Capitol Hill (so that you may blend in smoothly: everyone calls it "Cap Hill").

For the visual among you, check out our video above. Or for the bibliophiles, read on to see our fave destinations in Cap Hill listed below...

RISE AND SHINE: Where to get your coffee and/or brunch (because let's be honest, will you be up early enough for breakfast in a town as fun as Denver?)...

  • Black Eye Coffee — great for coffee or brunch. Beautiful aesthetic. Turns into White Lies by night... no computers, just romantic vibes, creative culinary art and great cocktails

  • City O' City — arty all-vegetarian restaurant and bar (with coffee and sweet treats too) serving all day near Poet's Row that can be an equally nice dining experience or late night cap for a drink.

UV RAYS: Where to soak up the 300 days of sunshine in Denver...

  • Civic Center Park — often hosting events, food trucks for Civic Center EATS, etc., with views of the capitol and easy access to downtown.

  • Cheesman Park — grab a frisbee, volleyball, or your yard game of choice and get some sun at one Denver's most popular parks!

DEVOUR: Where to shop and eat in Cap Hill...

  • Buffalo Exchange — for vintage clothes, funky finds, and something for everyone

  • Potager — constantly changing, creative, seasonal menus make this a perfect high-end date night for dinner — though in typical Denver fashion — without the pretention!

  • Bones — visiting Denver in the colder months? Bones will warm you right up. You haven't had ramen like this. Close your mind to the sea of butterry broth and just go for it — the Lobster Ramen, that is. You will not regret it.

DANCE & LAUGH: Where to head for your entertainment...

  • Deer Pile — a sometimes weird but fun venue above City O' City with weekly poetry slams, music, comedy, art shows and more. Check the Facebook page for details on upcoming events.

  • Charlie's — a longtime staple, visit this gay country-themed bar and club for getting your dance on. Best saved for later in the evening when the dance floor is sizzling.

IMBIBE: When you've got a eye for a good cocktail...

  • FIRE Lounge at the Art, a hotel — with stunning views of the city, creative modern art throughout, go for the cocktails and outdoor lounge with, you guessed it, an abundance of fireside seating. Try the Smoked Manhattan for an interesting twist on a classic cocktail!

  • Hudson Hill — classy and charming cocktail bar on 13th Avenue.
